Exactly. That’s why I made myself my own Simple Planning Journal. It has helped me publish two books. Learn and start Substack and post on Medium in the past month.

We do have to watch our time. I asked God to show me what to cut and what to add.

Since Substack allows me to upload a .wav podcast, I did it!!! My first one. I have a bunch saved from podcasting in 2018. I’m not sure but maybe you can podcast directly? I have to look into that.

Great article. Thanks.

We can get distracted by the shiny things. It’s critical that we understand our Why, be comfortable with capacity, give ourselves grace, and give focus that moves us toward our mission.

There is the concept of sacrifice, but at some point, the sacrifice brings diminishing returns. The key is to find your edge where the grind brings energy, not the opposite.

I feel this so deeply right now. I'm trying to finish a book to have it ready for author fairs at the end of August while also remembering that school starts in two weeks and I have a course that needs to be reworked. Oh and we just got back from vacation and I want to write about each of our vacation stops and I have two kids and two dogs and...

Yes, I am a writer, but I'm also a lot of other things. I have to decide what I can cut right now.

This is the truth for so many of us. We write in the gaps, and sometimes those gaps get filled. Finding the places where we can create and do it well is huge. And learning to be okay with this can be super hard.

This is so true. I realized quickly as a caregiver I can't make videos everyday. But I can do weekday audio clips /weekly lives on audio platforms, a few podcasts a month, and write my blog weekly. As a creative, you will have so many ideas and if you try to execute them all, you will crash and burn. It is best to do a few things well and let the rest go; repurposing is your best friend!

Streamlining is a great idea, and really helps to free up time.

Your cuts and focuses are very similar to mine, it's so important to constantly reevaluate, simplify, and put the time and effort where it needs to go.
