I never planned on challenging people to publish 12 books in 12 months.
Somehow, this article became a challenge, and people jumped on board. It is great, but I never imagined it would elicit a response.
I expected people to tell me I was crazy, that it was a ridiculous idea, or that I was one of those fake authors trying to do this to make money.
But no one has said that about this idea.
Folks like
, and others have embraced the idea and are running with it.And to be honest, I couldn’t be more excited!
12 Books in 12 Months Progress
When I started this idea myself, I thought it might be a good idea because I had read Michelle Kulp’s book 28 Books to 100K. However, I didn’t take action on this right away.
Yet, at the beginning of this year, as The Minimalist Author idea started to take shape, I returned to this idea and embarked on the journey.
So far, I have published three books since I started (January was a wash this year). These books are as follows:
February: The Gospel of Mark
March: Writing Books on Amazon
April: Breakthrough Prayer
Next month, I will publish The Minimalist Author book, which is pretty much done. However, after some feedback, I am updating it.
After that, I have a list of 18 other book ideas to draw on. Which, I may extend this 12-month challenge to 18 months. I can’t help myself.
The Challenge is Birthing New Ideas
As I have been working on several books at a time (I just finished another first draft), I have been thinking about what I would do after this challenge of writing books.
Now, I have a few ideas:
Start turning some of my books into courses on Udemy, like Hassan Osman.
Create a coaching program to help people write books.
Or I could write more books (which I will probably do anyway). However, I would like to find some way to help people write their first book or create a system for writing and publishing more books.
If you would be interested in a course of sorts or a coaching/accountability program, let me know!
I’m unsure where to go on it, but some fun options exist. Mainly because I believe anyone who wants to write a book should do so. And if I can help make that happen.
Going Forward
I’ll keep you updated on my progress with this 12 books in 12 months challenge as I go. In the mean time, there are a couple of ways you could help me.
Check out my books, if any of them are interesting or you have read them, please consider leaving an honest review.
Follow my author page on Amazon. This helps my books show up for other people and if you get emails from Amazon, any time a book comes out, they will let you know.
Honestly, that is all at this point. I will keep you posted and if you are interested about learning more on self-publishing, stay tuned:

P.S. There may be sales or affiliate links in this post. So, I might get a little kick back if you purchase anything. Thank you in advance!
Sometimes the best challenges are the ones that aren't planned, and this one may just be the most impactful challenge I've ever taken, all based on your article! Thanks so much Jack :)
I love the idea. My concern is just how to effectively market all 12 books without overwhelming your readership.
