Great framework, going to share this in my newsletter, I hope more people join us in the 12 books in 12 months "challenge" :)

Thank you! I hope it inspires people to jump on board. I think there is something to one-month books.

I have been back Into publishing new books on KDP and this serves as a great greenlight! Thanks for sharing. I am keen on joining the challenge, but I do both middle content to high content books, is it OK for the challenge?

Self-publishing is one of my solutions to many sides of my creative business. I am going to be sharing more about my journey moving forward.

This is going to be super useful to my readers!

You bet! The goal, though, is to publish one book a month. In the challenge, we are mostly medium—to high-content creators so it will be great!

Cool then! I am in 👌

Sounds great! I’m looking to expand on it in the future too!

Good pointers! I hope you also write a book in the future about marketing indie books. Looking forward to reading that.

That’s a goal I have, though I’m still at the beginnings of that journey. I think I have a lot to learn and don’t have that part quite figured out yet.

In my experience, 200-page non-fiction paperbacks sell longer and better than anything else. That approach has financed me for well over a decade.

Go ahead and write your 20-chapter book. Use print on demand. Double your royalties and publish wide.

I threw out the Amazon-centered approach years ago due to paltry results.

Ebooks should be loss leaders and reader magnets. Readers who buy your paperback will often buy your ebook as well.

6 books a year is viable - especially in a series.

Thanks for sharing! Have you seen one particular place that sells the majority of your books or is it very spread out?

More Ingrams than Amazon for POD. Others fall off rapidly. Ebooks are a quarter or less of those title sales, and more evenly split in their dribs and drabs. Thinner print books also sell, but not as well.

I run no ads.

I haven’t really done much with Ingrams. Do you get books in brick and mortar stores? Or just online?

Did some online work yesterday to see if I could find my books in actual stores. No luck. The closest thing I found is Powell's, but that doesn't guarantee those books are available on their shelves. I do see that re-sellers and ebay-ers have my books available. And WorldCat says they are on library shelves near me.

I am one of those people who have always wanted to write a book but never even tried to do it.

Writing in Medium is my first step towards collecting information to include in a book, but that’s as far as I’ve gotten to turning my dream into a reality.

I look forward to learning from you and realizing my dream.

That’s great! Starting on Medium is a good start and you can compile a lot of stories for a book in no time at all.

I like your pragmatic method, nobody will hold your hand, so do it yourself.

Totally! And I think k it’s helpful to get people started if they are having a hard time getting going!

Have you tried this method yourself? I'm curious how it works for different genres and lengths.

I’m currently writing and publishing 12 books in 12 months, and it works great. I write nonfiction and I keep to shorter books 100 pages or less. I’m also a side hustling writer, meaning I write in a window of 10-20 hours a week. And mostly in small gaps of time. It works well for me.

Doing a search showed that they are mostly selling online, with resales showing up on ebay and thrift stores. World Cat has them showing up in libraries near me. I don't have a reliable way to find brick and mortar stores which carry them.
