5 Ways To Consistently Promote Your Books
Simple, but effective ways to promote your books for the long haul
Your book launch is not the only time you will promote your book.
It can be, but you can guarantee you will not sell another book after that first month.
That’s why it’s important to share your books consistently to help keep sales moving and continue to promote over time.
In today’s post, I will share five ways I consistently promote my books after launching them.
Social Media
This seems intuitive, and while many people say they don’t sell any books using social media, it’s still a very useful way to share your books.
Here’s how I do it: I write a social media post about my book. After I published that post, I put a link to my book in the comments.
This way, the platform doesn’t penalize your initial post for taking people off the platform, allowing you to ramp up the post in that platform’s algorithm.
Email Signature
A simple way to promote your book regularly is to share a link to your Amazon author page in your email signature.
I have seen this regularly. If you send many emails in a day, I will see a quick bump in book sales.
Plus, this is a very simple, non-invasive way to share your books
Daily Posts
You might’ve noticed that I share at the bottom of every post on Medium and on Substack books pertinent to the platform.
This is, again, another non-invasive way to share my books with the people who read my content.
You can still do this with a call to action for your email list. It can be one sentence for your email list and one for your book.
Traditional Promotion Activities
Sometimes, if book sales have dipped, I will do a free book promotion for Kindle or reduce the price and share the promotion everywhere.
For example, this week, all my books are $.99 on Kindle, and some are free.
This allows people to pick up many books at once and boost their books with the Amazon algorithm.
Bundle Promotions
The last way I promote my books is when a new one emerges. I also reduce the price of the Kindle versions of my old books.
Then, when I do a free book promotion with my new book, people are likelier to buy my other books at a reduced price.
This leads to more sales over time and keeps your book relevant.
Final Thoughts on Book Promotion
The reality is for us to promote our books. We have to be consistent over time.
Sure, some people might say they write a book, and it sells all by itself, but that is almost always a one-off.
More often than not, people selling books consistently promote their books consistently.
And this has been 100% true in my experience.
For all the authors out there, how do you promote your books regularly?
My name is J.R. Heimbigner and I am a #1 Bestselling Author on Amazon with 13 self-published books. I have two things I want to share with you:
A short book on to help you use your Substack posts to write books.
The First Draft Masterclass. I share exactly how to write your first draft so you can get that book published!
Have a book already? See how I can promote it with my newsletter!
Also, this post may contain sales or affiliate links, so I might get a little kickback if you purchase anything. Thank you in advance!
Creating a quick email challenge/course related to the book could be a good idea too. Promote the free challenge/course, and promote the book during/after the sequence is done.
Great tips! Archiving this so I can look back on it. Thanks J.R.!
