Dear Writer,
I love the beginning of the month. It is a fresh start. And I love starting things. What makes the beginning of the month special to me is that no matter what happened last month, this month is new.
When I started writing, I was easily discouraged if I had a bad month on Medium or my blog. Might you know the feeling? You look back at the previous month’s stats and can’t help but feel like a failure.
Well, this month is brand new. And you can’t change last month so you might as well look forward. Because this is true, I am looking forward to starting the month off right. How about you?
What does it look like to start the month off right?
When it comes to the beginning of the month, I do a few things to help prepare me for regular publishing throughout the month. For example. I am trying to average one post a day on Medium and NewsBreak. As well as work on self-edits for the two book projects I am working on at this time.
Yesterday, May 1st, I set to my calendar and set my appointments with myself. Make sure to calendar the reminders to get posts out. Then, I went to my Apple Notes and started Idea Harvesting.
Once I got many ideas down, I set up my next ten posts for both NewsBreak and Medium. This way, I could pop in and start writing drafts. This set me up for success, like today, I was able to publish my Medium story and a NewsBreak article with ease.
This morning I planned to write another draft or two, but my one-year-old daughter woke up, so draft writing isn't going to happen. But that is part of life. At least I was up early enough to get the other articles done.
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for reading today. I hope this gives you a little insight into my daily/monthly routine. And you get to see life happens sometimes, so it’s okay if you have to pivot or set things aside.
Have a great week, get some articles published, and work toward your writing dreams!
