I had planned at the beginning of the year to publish a book in March.
To be honest with you, it didn’t happen.
In fact, I am nowhere close to publishing a book. And I can tell you exactly how it happened.
I’ve started a side hustle to my side hustle that had nothing to do with my current ventures. And while it was taking off, it wasn’t actually very helpful.
I’ve been pumping out a ton of content on Medium. I keep going back to the well that is drying up like a fool.
My day job has taken extra hours out of the day. So, my writing time has been decreased.
I’m afraid to work on my book. The resistance has been getting to me. And it has kept me from starting.
Writing a book on my faith is already hard because I want to make sure that I am theologically sound and it can be hard to get my throughs and accuracy in order.
All that to say, I have had enough of the sandbagging that I have been doing and am ready to make it happen. So, in April, I will quit the additional side hustle, cut back my online content, and really focus on my book.
What does that mean for J.R. Heimbigner Writes?
I will still publish once a week for my free content. But, it will be shorter. I won’t have lengthy posts for my weekly content, they will be “one-problem” posts.
For my paid posts, I will stick to a once-a-month newsletter with some details about self-publishing to help you with your writing ventures.
However, once I get this first draft done, I will increase some of my posts and get back to normal. It’s just a time to start focusing in on my next book.
Unlimited Email Coaching is still up and running.
I have really enjoyed connecting with other authors and writers who have been working on their books.
I will keep doing the coaching program and if you want to join, just start the paid subscription and you will get your instructions on how it works.
I also offer some gigs that I can do to help you with your book and because you are part of the UEC, the gigs are crazy cheap.
Final Thoughts
I’ve seen other writers do this in the past. They buckle down and decide not to connect as much online. I thought it was foolish.
Yet, I have learned that it is an important aspect of you have gotten behind or lost sight of the writing work that you love to do.
That is what happened to me. So, I will be stepping into the book intensive month and I can’t wait to share more about what happens along the way and when it is over.
Thanks for reading, and if there is anything you want to learn more about, leave a comment and let me know!

It’s called Transform Your Medium Stories.
Initially written for writers on the Medium platform, the content of this book works for any online content. And it is a great short guide to help you write and publish your first book. So grab your copy today!

I’m Going to be Writing a Book in April
It can definitely be a tough balance between quantiy/quality as well as important/urgent.
Find the time to work on what's most important to you (sounds like the book is), and then fit in the rest around that.
