How My Entire Outlook On Self-Publishing Has Changed
It has only taken five years to really find my place in publishing
Hey Friends,
I have been thinking a lot about my writing and self-publishing journey over the last few years, and I realized something this month:
I have been on a journey to become a minimalist author.
Since 2019, I have been writing short books that have been making an impact on people. Whether they answer a singular problem or help them read the Bible and grow in their faith, my books are to the point.
When I am on my way to writing my books, I am very efficient in writing, editing, and publishing my books.
What does it mean to be a Minimalist Author?
When I think about Minimalist Authors, I am thinking of a few very specific characteristics:
Lean email and follower growth systems.
Minimal writing and publishing teams.
Books and content that are to the point and help people.
Cutting out the fluff and irrelevant information.
Reaching the current climate of readers with shorter books.
Now, I have shared a little more about what it means to be a Minimalist Author in a couple of ways. First, with this post on Medium. And secondly, with my Minimalist Author Manifesto.
Why Define Myself as a Minimalust Author?
My goal as a writer and author is to help people.
I don’t want to create long, drawn-out books where people stop reading. I don’t want to write content to write content. I don’t want so much complexity in my life that I can’t provide excellent, helpful, and consistent content.
I want to create on my terms. I want to help provide straight and to-the-point content and books. And I want to bring people back to the enjoyment of reading.
So, I am putting on the mantle of a Minimalist Author (which I probably have had for some time) and creating to help others do the same.
What do you think? Does this sound like something you would be interested in? Do you think I’m crazy? Let me know in the comments!
