I believe many writers are on the verge of seeing tremendous growth. Something in me is stirring, and as I read stories here on Medium, I know the potential for a new wave of great content and potential growth for writers.
Over the last few months, I have been experimenting with my writing on Medium. Each month, I played with my publishing schedule and engagement level.
I’ve done everything from publishing once a week, two to three times a week and every day for a month. These experiments have been super insightful for me and others.
Because of the stirring in my soul and the information I have seen from my experiments, I’ve decided to try something out for November.
I’m calling it the Medium Three Challenge.
What is the Medium Three Challenge?
Essentially, the Medium Three challenge will go like this:
Write and publish at least 300 words every day for 30 days on Medium and then engage with responses on at least three other writer’s stories every day.
I’ve decided on these parameters based on the fact that most 3 to 5-minute stories get a lot of engagement right now on Medium.
I’ve also noticed an uptick in earnings through the Medium Partner Program when you publish more. Views don’t necessarily go up a lot, but earnings do.
Lastly, I’ve noticed people connecting with my other content on Substack, which has been a massive boost for that platform.
How Hard is it to Publish for 30 Days Straight?
Well, that is up to you. 300 words isn’t very much in terms of writing. And I will be honest: you don’t have to edit on Medium meticulously. So, it can be done.
What about engaging?
Again, that is up to you. I would encourage you to engage with three simple responses:
Ask a question about the story
Quote something and share why you like it
Share something that goes with the story
These three responses work great on nearly every platform, and you get better at engagement.
What Should You Write About?
You should pick two to three topics to write about and stick to them. This will make it easier to develop ideas and continually create posts.
This will also make it easier to grow followers and email subscribers and get regular engagement on your posts.
I would also recommend staying on those topics as you respond. That way, when the going gets tough, you have a fallback strategy to ensure you stay on track.
Let’s Make November a Huge Month!
If there was ever a better time to try something like this, it is now. I encourage you to jump on board and try it. See what happens; it might change everything for you!
If this is something you want to do. Leave a response below, and I will follow you, check out your content daily, and share your posts!
Writing and sharing 300 words a day sounds like a good plan to me. I'm in!
I took up the challenge. The last few days, my head has been spinning with editing. Two and half weeks from launch of my latest novel.
I use my name, Mollie Lyon.
