So You've Always Wanted To Write A Book?
But you've never done it and you still haven't started.
More than 80% of Americans say they want to write a book. According to a study of 2,000 aspiring writers, more than half claim to have a good idea for a novel, yet only 15 percent have started writing. — The New York Times via Forbes
You want to write a book. You’ve wanted to write the book for years.
It’s the one dream you have that hasn’t died, but it’s starting to fade away slowly. You don’t have the time, you don’t know where to start, and you don’t even know if you have what it takes to write that book.
You’ve tried writing in the past. Or maybe you even write a little bit here and there online. But no matter what you do, you end up stopping.
Life gets in the way. You get sick. Your kids need more of your time. I’ve heard all the excuses. Heck, I’ve said most of them to myself and my wife. They are like anthems to your dying dream.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
I was once an Aspiring Author.
In 2019, I started getting an itch to write a book. But I didn’t know what I would write about or if I had what it took.
So, like any aspiring author/writer, I sandbagged the idea for months. Until some other writers encouraged me that I had enough content to write and publish books.
So, I wrote a book.
It took me two weeks to do the pre-work and one month to write the first draft. Then, I spent a month and a half editing, formatting, and designing my cover for Kindle and print.
I spent the last month learning how to promote my book (which I could have done sooner), and then published it. After the first month, I had a couple hundred sales.
Fast Forward to 2024
Since then, I’ve published 15 books. Twelve of them have become #1 bestsellers, most sell regularly, and I have reached tens of thousands of readers.
Why am I telling you all of this? Because of one simple fact:
If I can do it, you can too.
But you don’t have to do it alone like I have done for most of my writing career. You can get help. And you can learn lessons without suffering through failures.
